We’re planing our New York Global Geek Tour. We got a chance to refine our Open Hardware USB presentation, and put together New York schedules.    

We soldered the photography models of the Bus Blaster v3 and v4, Bus Pirate demo board, and Bus Pirate v4 update. Worked on finishing the magnificent nixie thing, only a few hundred more wires to cut and solder. Today was consumed with the latest workshop video about the magnificent Nixie thing. We expected it to be quick and simple, instead it ate through the whole day because of complications in the half-finished new workshop. Image by Runner1616: CC BY-SA

We soldered on the nixie project, preparing to demo it in tomorrows workshop video. Picked up an extra soldering iron too, so three people can work on it at once. A new batch of PCBs arrived from Seeed Studio, we started soldering on those.

Today we soldered up Nixie tube thing blocks. We wrote a small sketch for the Arduino to turn on/off each filament on the Nixie board in a loop. It works great. We also played around with a VFD tube (pictured above), trying to get it to light up. We wrote and scheduled the app note […]
