We added the TXB0108 dual supply 8-bit bidirectional voltage level translator (TSSOP-20 package) to our library. As the title suggests it translates 8 channels between two voltage levels. There is no direction control. All the pins are bi-directional at all times, and the directions of each pin are independent of one another.
We wanted to make a footprint for a combined surface mount and through hole DIP socket. It’s a through hole socket with bent leads so it could be soldered in a surface mount process. This will be used in a secret project which will revealed next week in China.
The latest parts to be added to our Eagle part’s library are the folding micro SD card socket, and the PIC24F16KA102 microcontroller. The symbol for the PIC is connected to the SOIC-28W, and SSOP-28 footprints. Check out a picture of it below.
Latest part to be added to our Eagle library is a 4way + a button surface mount joystick. Featured in mobile phones in the pre-touchscreen era, these devices are nifty to use with menus.
This part from our Eagle library is a favorite. We use the 74xx245 buffer as a 5v to 3.3V level translator in many of our projects. Many of those projects went through a few revisions, ’cause we keep getting the directional control pin wrong. Eventually we branded a legend for the “DIR” pin directly on […]
Latest parts added to our Eagle library are the TD62783 8Ch high voltage source driver and a 2.1mm barrel jack footprint using oblong plated through holes. The TD62783Ch is a 8 channel high side switch, we intend to use it in our VFD boards. Check out the DC barrel jack schematic symbol, and all of […]
We added MIC2027 Quad USB power distribution switch to our Eagle library. This part is used to limit the outgoing current to the USB maximum 500mA. In case of a short circuit, an over-current pin for the corresponding channel is raised high. At the same time the device switches to a current limiting mode. This […]
We added the INA138 high-side current monitor to our Eagle parts library. This is the part used in the Smoke Tester to read current through a voltmeter. It basically mirrors the current going through its shunt resistor to a load resistor. By playing with these values you can get an easy shunt current to output […]
Lately we’ve been testing the KiCad waters. For the ATX Breakout Board v2 we needed to escape Eagle’s PCB constraints, and we succeed. A major hurdle to using any new CAD package is that all your part libraries have to be built again. Luckily Sjaak pointed us to a script that helps you convert your […]
Added IN-12 Nixie socket (pictured above) and the IV-22 VFD socket (picture below) to our Eagle parts library. As you may have noticed from our recent updates, we’ve been playing around with Nixies and VFDs a bit lately…
We added the 74141 BCD-to-Decade decoder, nixie tube driver to our Eagle parts library. This device makes it easy to control nixie tubes by sending binary codes to light up a specific number. This part went into our nixie thing for Maker Faire, the PCBs should be in this week some time.
We added the recently released FT311D Android Open Accessory host USB IC in a LQFP-32 package to our Eagle library. The device makes it easy to communicate to Android devices using the Android Open Accessory Mode available on Android platforms from 3.1 and up. The reference circuit is pretty simple, like most FTDI chips, we’ll […]
Today we added 2pin, and 3pin 5mm pitch wire-to-board terminal connectors, and a SMD USB type A female connectors to our Eagle library. Pictured above is the 2pin terminal connector.
Today we added two relatively hard-to-solder parts to our library. Both come in QFN lead-less packages. First is the Texas Instrument’s TPS6120x DC/DC converter (pictured above) with an integrated switch. The second is the Micrel KSZ8851SN embedded Ethernet controller (pictured below).
Lately we’re playing around with a 1.8” serial interface TFT which can be bought from eBay for ~$6. We added it to our Eagle part library. We also found some errors on the standard Eagle footprint for 2×10 shrouded headers we use in the Bus Blaster v3. Image of the new, fixed shrouded header’s footprint, […]
For the DP Badge project we used some tiny TSSOP logic ICs, including the ULN2003 (pictured above) , 74HC595, 74HC4017, and the 555 timer. Previews from our Eagle part library are blow the fold.
