Finnair gave us almost-free tickets to Chongqing, China. We still had an entry left on our China visas so we hopped on a plane and spent the weekend. The pic above is of a LED shop, every big city in Asia seems to have a few. The pic below the fold is of a sign making shop. Notice the huge CNC machine in the back. There are at least 4 in a row on this central street.
In the workshop we made small changes to the Bus Blaster v4.1 silkscreen before sending it to Seeed for prototype PCBs. We made the jumper labels more informative by adding jumper marking for both MODE, and JTAG power source jumpers.
The previously mentioned secret project(@1min) firmware is under construction. We expect an alpha version to be ready by the end of the month. Today we mostly got familiar with the hardware, and thought up a basic workflow.
Bug management and patch submissions have gotten out of hand, so we implemented a project tracker and will have all our todos moved there by tomorrow. More on this soon, along a how-to on resetting your root MYSQL password…
Tomorrow we’ll have a workshop video, hopefully releasing another previously undisclosed project that we previewed in Shenzhen and the Bay Area Maker Faire. See you then!

I got the MYSQL issue worked out. I didn’t realize MYSQL root was different than Linux root. For some reason I didn’t have a separate password for MYSQL root anywhere. I stopped DB, restarted without privileges or network access, ran some SQL to reset root PW, flushed privileges, and then restarted mysql normally. Worked great.
Mantis, cool, it works surprisingly well :) … I never tried to setup some public access there but it should be possible if I remember correctly (at least to view progress on some bugs)
Would it be possible to have public read-only access to the tracker? Also, while I’m asking for things, how about a set of coding standard guidelines? They don’t have to be elaborate or strictly enforced, but right now the DP project sources are such a mishmash of coding and indentation styles it’s pretty distracting when trying to examine or modify them.
Also also, how about taking more advantage of your version control tools, in particular by tagging releases? I realize these probably don’t rank among your favourite things to do in the world, but maybe consider them for the future?

btw the way it is configured now you register easily (no wait, just enter email, click on confirmation link and that’s it) and you have read access immediately
