Global Geek Shenzhen: Other stuff in Hua Qiang Bei

Posted on Thursday, April 19th, 2012 in Global Geek by DP

Here’s some other cool stuff we found in other buildings in Hua Qiang Bei. The surface mount part reels we’ve been questing on every tour were present in spades. This is one of dozens of shops with inexpensive reels of resistors, capacitors, inductors, etc.

More pictures below the fold.

Drive-thru reel service. This is a small shed outside a larger market building, walk up and order your reels! This is where Seeed Studio sources their passive parts.

A case and enclosure distributor. They got a few colorful metal cases, but most are boring beige boxes. We’re so sick of beige!

A winding maze of stands in yet another market building. People are cooking, eating, sleeping, generally living life inside the market.

One building is dedicated to cell phones and accessories. Want your own customized cell phone? Order it in the morning and pick it up in the afternoon. This display has a bunch of cell phone watches.

Understandable. However, given that they have limited space for inventory, I’d rather have more shapes and sizes in the same boring beige plastic and manage colour myself via the art supply store. Some other materials might be nice though.

Will they sell cut-tape in these places or full reels only?

You guys are having mad fun in shenzhen, could you recommend places to see/visit, i went to knight valley in OCT East today and had the ride of my life, nerve racking experience. I would be going to cocopark sometime this week, heard they have good clubs there too.
