Don’t forget to share your current project in the comments or the forum. This week our favorite project gets a free QFP protoboard.
Here’s a summary of major developments over the last week:
- A big box of parts arrived from MDFLY
- A KT-link buffer clone supporting JTAG Serial Wire Debug is now available for Bus Blaster v2 pre-release testers
- dogsbody released a new version of his Windows GUI upgrade utility for the Logic Sniffer
- cloudform551 posted an updated PyBusPiratelite Python library
- schazamp shared his ChronoBlot remake of the MaceTech ChronoDot in the project log forum
- We reviewed our Brother QL -550 label maker in this week’s tools post
- CPLD development boards nearly landed this week, the initial documentation is now in place on the wiki. Check out our logic analyzer core in 72 macrocells
- Week in (p)review will now be on Friday
Next week will be busy:
- CPLD breakouts will be available first thing, videos still need to be made
- Bus Blaster v2, Nokia LCD backpack, and IR Toy v2 are also about assembled. We’re furiously documenting things on the wiki
We’re going to try a publishing schedule. No promises:
- Sunday: Free PCBs
- Monday: Project status updates
- Tuesday: Firmware releases
- Wednesday: Forum roundup
- Thursday: Tools
- Friday: Week in review
- Saturday: Weekend app notes
What are you hacking this week?

I started to build a geiger counter using a russian smb-20 tube.
Very interested in the upcoming CPLD breakout board. To get started I downloaded the Xilinx ISE tool, a 4 GB file, and it says it requires another 11 GB on the drive to install… this is the largest tool I’ve encountered yet.
