      rounded tracks are good to reduce emissions of electromagnetic waves, correct? corners are sending electromagnetic waves, arent they?

      1. Erm, no…
        The whole trace will emit EMI, not just the corners (think of it as an antenna…) — which is a concern in high-speed switching and RF circuits, and probably is negligible here.

        The reason to avoid corners (especially the 90-degree ones) in RF applications, is a change of the transmission characteristics of a trace due to the different width of the trace at the corner.

        It is also said, that sharp corners might trap etchant during the manufacturing process of a PCB and thus might lead to over-etching. However, i don’t know how much it of it remains true with today’s manufacturing processes…

  1. I don’t know anything about EMI, I sometimes add rounded tracks for the looks :-)
