Nick designed re:load, a cheap 0-30A general purpose dummy load and posted it in the forum a few months ago. It’s got over-current, over-voltage, and over-temperature protection. While the circuit is similar to many other DIY dummy loads out there, the key to Nick’s safer solution is the usage of the BTS117 smart low side switch IC, which acts as a regular N-channel MOSFET, but has all of the above mentioned protection circuitry built in. This project is now available on Tindie.

You only linked to one of the two available kits on Tindie. The two kits are: regular (3A, 12W) version $15 and the Epic Reload (6A, 20W) $25. I’ll fore-go the links here to avoid moderation. Just look on Tindie.

Just bought the 3A version. I currently use a bunch of 5W cement resistors as dummy load when testing stuff. This looks like a much better solution :)

    Hi,
Just wondering, how can I use the dummy load you created to test a negative power supply?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
