It’s time to Press Your Luck! Check out Christopher’s nixie-based Press Your Luck game for the Open 7400 Logic Competition :

Press Your Luck (tv game show) in Nixie form, getting a W (view the tube upsidedown) is like getting a Whammy. See how many points (other cathodes) you can get before hitting 3 whammies.
People on the show would always say “NOWHAMMY NOWHAMMY NOWHAMMY STOPPP!!!”

Build something that uses or abuses a logic chip and get amazing boards, tools, and other swag. The Open 7400 Logic Competition promotes awareness of the basic building blocks of modern circuits.     Jeez! It is not a good idea to stop the clock the way you are doing there. The 555 has a totem-pole output, so it can both source and sink current. Tieing ping 3 directly to VCC as you are doing can easily damage the chip. It would be better, for example, to have pin 4 connected to GND instead. Also, if the values on your schematic are correct, 10Ohm is a very low resistance value to use as pulldown…

    ah hmm yeah, didn’t think of that (i’m not an electrical engineer)

    maybe a diode after pin 3 would work better? i’m not so concerned with breaking the 555 as i would be the 74192

    couldn’t think of a different way to stop the clock

    the pull down resistor is 50ohm, i used that i think because that’s what the datasheet suggested
