Workshop Update for November 2nd, 2012

Ordered more professional business cards because our DangerousPrototypes.com Maker Faire giveaway cards seem to scare people in parts markets. Ordered a big return address stamp and some other order fulfillment stuff.

We’re also planing our return to Shenzhen later this month. We plan to stay longer, visit factories, and really experience the whole “meet on Monday, ship by Friday” concept.

    1. I expect ’cause it’s unconventional business card. Just our logo with the email. And a sales page on the back…

      1. Let me mention that Bangalore(Global geek tour-India) incident too.

When we left Cerebre Tech PCB assembly, we saw a (wood) factory with giant tools like CNC cutter, etc. We need a permission from the to enter there and when we gave DP card to the security person, he called the owner/manager and when he spelled only “Dangerous….”, the manager denied our entry to the factory.

Com’on guys, get a secondary (ordinary) card for these situations.

      2. On an ordinary card still the buisiness name is Dangerousprototypes.

I dont think it is bad business card as it stands out of the masses, which is something you want with business card.

      3. Yes, that was the motivation. Dangerous Prototypes is run by Where Labs, LLC (ugh, that silly Labs fad, hope that is over now) so we can have sneaky cards with that instead of the startling dangerous word :)

  1. Similar things happened in Mumbai too. When IAN handed over business card to one of the shopkeeper interested in selling DP Hardware, He read it loudly ” D-A-N-G-E-R-O-U-S”. After that I guess he would have changed his mind of doing bussiness on DP hardware :).

  2. A business name for every occasion:

    1) Harmless Prototypes
    2) Exclusive Prototypes
    3) Gold Prototypes
    4) Best Prototypes
    5) First Prototypes
