what do you use to program these boards? I mean wich JTAG ? (I know these can be programmed by buspirate, but I’m asking about a true dev solution tool that can be used throught std dev environment like Quartus and co.
For Xilinx stuff, web pack uses the USB cable for direct programming, chips scope (on some FPGAs), etc. Seeed has a new device that clones both Xilinx and Altera USB cables. If you run linux, there is an alternative driver that will allow a FT2232 device (like the Bus Blaster) to work within Xilinx webpack too.
On linux you can program this board directly from XISE / iMpact, when you install the par driver for ft boards, with buspirate. That’s how I use it.
Quartus is for Altera chips so it won’t work with Xilinx CoolRunner2 board mentioned in this post.
By default configuration busblaster comes compatible to http://www.amontec.com/jtagkey.shtml and programs that directly support it are OpenOCD / UrJtag / Rowley Crossworks / Universal Scan / TopJTAG
