Bus Pirate PIC programming utility can now program Bus Pirate v4. This means any Bus Pirate v2, v3, or v4 can program any other Bus Pirate version as well. Thank you to Tayken, Robots, and LongHairedHacker for their work on this project.
Note: the PIC programming adapter is not needed to program a Bus Pirate. The adapter is only used for older PIC 12F/16F/18F.

A quick clarification: You don’t need the programming adapter for programming BP v2, v3 or v4 they don’t require the 13V to MCLR pin for programming. The adapter is used for hşgh voltage programming like 10f, 12f, 16f, 18f series PICs.
I was just about to ask why the adapter board was used. :)
