Free PCB: CPLD development boards

Posted on Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 in CPLD by Ian

To celebrate the launch of our new CPLD development boards we’re giving away PCBs. Just ask for a CoolRunner-II or XC9572XL dev-board in the comments, if you have a project in mind we’d like to hear about it too.

Assembled CoolRunner-II and XC9572XL development boards are available now for $15.

Are you interested in blogging with us? Drop us a line. This probably won’t be a paid position, but you get a back stage pass, free PCBs, and free projects. US and international bloggers are welcome.

Some stuff:

  • Yes, we’ll mail it anywhere in the world!
  • Be sure to use a real e-mail in the address field so we can contact you for shipping info.
  • First come, first serve. If we can’t contact the first commenters, or there’s no reply within 24 hours, we move down the list. You could consider making a request even if it looks like all the PCBs are gone.
  • Like everything else on this site, PCBs are offered without warranty.

  7. kP says:

I’d very much like either board. To be honest, I’m not experienced Verilog or VHDL so my first “project” would be an Instructable going over the basics including programming with a Bus Pirate and setting up FOSS dev tools. Thanks!

  8. Jay says:

    Can I have a XC9572XL board please?

    CoolRunner-II please

  16. James says:

Can I have a XC9572XL board also please?

  17. Steve says:

I would love a board as well. Preference would be for a XC9572XL, but if you run out, I wouldn’t mind the CoolRunner instead.

  18. Chad says:

I’d love to get a hold of one of these. I’ve been wanting to get into CPLDs more! My preference would be a CoolRunner-II, but I’d be thrilled with either one! Thanks!

  19. John MacDonald says:

Request for XC9572XL board for 5v sensor interfacing with TI MSP430s.

  20. Shadyman says:

Definitely, been looking to get into CPLDs. I’d like a XC9500XL, please :) I’m working on replacing a bunch of 7400-series logic gates for a Commodore 64 cartridge.

  21. Norman says:

I would like to get a XC9500XL, please. I really wanted to get know how CPLDs work but was not sure which tools i should get.

  22. omegat says:

    I’d like a XC9500XL please :)
I would realize an auto pilot servo control system with it ;)

  23. El1m1nate says:

A XC9572XL please. Looks like an easy board to use!

  24. Javier says:

to learn cplds, any of those will be great. Thanks!

Is it too late for me to ask one???

    I d also like one please…

  30. Kelvin says:

I would like to request for a coolrunner board if it is not too late. I have no experience with CPLD, so hopefully this board would be a good starting point.

  31. Georg says:

I’d also like to have one of these. I would prefer one XC9572XL board. I was thinking if this could be either used as sophisticated DDS generator or as analysis hardware in a home made cosmic muon experiment (trigger, coincidence logic, time measurement with multiple geiger counters, photo multipliers, etc). I always wanted to try something like this.

  32. Udi says:

I would also like an XC9572XL board, thanks!

  33. Andreas says:

I’d love to get one (prefer XC9572).
Want to use it for graphics acceleration and offloading an ATMEGA 2560 which has a mobile display attached.

  34. werejag says:

    I’d love the CoolRunner-II!

  35. victor suarez says:

    me please!

I’d like a CoolRunner-II board, if you have any left.

    Thanks!

  37. msr says:

+1! If you have any left.
Im planning on making a SPI master interface to use with a digital accelerometer.

  38. Juan Carlos says:

I would like one PCB for XC9572.I have left some chips (CPLD, SRAM, PIC’s and DAC) and I’m planned to develop an Arbitrary Function Generation.
    Thanks on advance!

  39. Leonard says:

I could certainly utilize one of those XC9572XL boards. Started Banging bits on a Xilinx XC9572XL CPLD just this weekend. That Board would be very very useful to a CPLD novice such as myself. Thank you.

  40. werejag says:

was i suppose to get a email?

    • Ian says:

Hi werejag – I’m sorry, it’s first come, first serve, and we ran out by that point. We sent them out to everyone who specified a board type until they were gone. We do have a few left that will be giveaways on this week’s Free PCB Sunday though, so there will be another chance.

  41. Markus Gritsch says:

Only if you expect that Ian has 40+ PCBs to give away ;)

  42. werejag says:

    ok thank you

  43. Warren says:

If you have any of the XC9572XL boards left, I would appreciate one. Thank you.

I have got one XC95108 IC.Could you please provide me a pcb for its development board , to be used for educational purpose.

  45. Jiten says:

I would like to have a XC9572XL board if any is left .Thank you. :)

  46. Michael says:

Would you kind folks consider sending me one of these boards (even though this post is over seven months old)?

    TIA…

  47. Davoud says:
