A new PCB design web application was released this last week called PCBWeb. The website states that PCBWeb is a free browser-based CAD application for designing and manufacturing electronics hardware. The tool is currently released in BETA and allows you to create a schematic, full circuit board layout, and then export to gerber format for manufacturing. The application is supported on Windows and Mac using Silverlight.

Its a shame it uses silverlight. Doesn’t work on Ubuntu.
The people behind this service (software?) seem to be the same who are working on http://www.partsim.com (the whois information of both websites basically shows the same registrant).
It looks like they’ve only added SMD parts to the catalogue.
Silverlight is only available for x86 processors.
There is no version for Arm and for mobile devices. Therefore it won’t work on tablets.
Moonlight for Linux has been stopped.
Silverlight has the same security problems as flash.
Not a good choice.

Wow somebody used Silverlight for a new development?! Whoever convinced them of that could sell snow to the proverbial eskimo.
