Ian Griffiths built a free 23K256 breakout board. The 23K256 is a 256Kb SPI SRAM memory chip, but it comes in DIP too so we nixed this project.

Hehe, yeah. I requested one of these as my free board too a few weeks ago as I wanted to use one of these chips in a project and thought this would be a good way to try it out to make sure I understood it. I got the board and it was only when ordering the chip for it that I thought “D’oh!” I could have just got in in a breadboard friendly package. oh well, I got to practice my soldering and it did work nicely still :)
