Seeed Studio’s new packing boxes

New packing boxes from Seeed Studio:

We used to stock almost all products in static-free plastic bags. Fair enough, it’s convenient and also easy for people to handling. However, the plastic causes many problems like environmental pollution, weak protection and bad product image I’d like to say. So, we started to prepare a new packing method with uline boxes since couple months ago. And now here it is!

If you’re looking for packaging for your business, then contact Manor Packaging and see the different types of packaging they offer.

  1. The plastic causes “many” environmental issues… like the larger box, oil-based foam, and additional packing weight fuel costs aren’t going to cause a problem?

Does this mean when I order a bunch of blank PCBs, they’re all going to come in individual boxes now? Because that would be absurd. Ooh, I see, this is for THEIR products; still, hopefully they’ll be able to minimize excess.

    1. Giving the benefit of the doubt, the (hopefully) conductive foam *could* be PLA based.. :)

Technically, they should still be in conductive silver mylar bags..

      1. I guess the added value lies more in easier packaging. With little bags it is trial an error to fit an order in a box.

  2. Seriously that does NOT look like static safe foam, rather just normal foam that is dyed black to fool the purchaser.

Not to mention this will increase the risks of missing product or incorrect product.

  3. It seems a somewhat curious decision. Most of the larger/more expensive electronic parts I buy that come in boxes with foam, also come in (often) sealed (against the elements) antistatic bags. I doubt that the claimed environmental benefits are real. Sounds like spin for cost cutting to me.

  4. Well at least the larger cardboard boxes can easily be re-purposed as storage containers. And they’re definitely preferable to simple padded envelopes when sending delicate parts.

  5. Great that they decided to go with boxes :D. I noticed surestudio moved to this type of black boxes while ago and it was a very nice surprise (the foam in surestudio boxes is not conductive – nor it is black, no idea about seeed)
