To a dinosaur like me, I find pH control intriguing, it’s not a common item in the systems I know from old books (old == era of PIC16F84A or older). It’s only present in commercial setups.
If the system is sheltered, then pH should not change a lot, it’s only critical when adding water.
Nutrient conc change is more interesting, I think, especially for heavy feeders. So I guess it is missing EC monitoring, he’d have to do weekly manual monitoring, not a big deal since folks often leave deep water culture for a month or more between top ups. This is not a cheap system though…
KH, Im putting this one outside, and in the northeast there may be periods of rain that dilute and change the Ph. I like your idea about monitoring nutrient content. Im going to do some research into that and try it out. I have a couple more peristaltic pumps laying around ready to be put to use.
