Ken Shirriff’s infrared remote control overview covers different ways to interpret remote control codes, and how to extract codes from various data files available online. This could be good background for anyone adding new remote control protocol support to the USB IR Toy.
Ken’s blog post cleared a few mysteries up for my as to why certain IR code libraries for the same codes could be so different.
The design doc for the TV-B-Gone at ladyada.net also provides a good discussion of IR codes and how to store them compactly that I think would be helpful for people getting started hacking with the USB IR Toy.
