    The sketch should take the settings from the PC application (C# – ugh!) then wait for the next second on the Arduino to set the RTC. This would help resolve the “measured” 150ms delay in setting the clock from the PC. Of-course there may be one second midnight and/or leap-second roll-over issues with this, but there are some pretty good Arduino libs for timekeeping that can handle this. Personally, I think a simple PC application could set the RTC on the Arduino without a GUI if the PC is NTP disciplined in the first place. Somebody must have done this already. The Author of this referenced article uses the prolific DS1307 RTC part, but for a bit more money, I think the DS3xxx series parts are Much more stable yet code compatible with the DS1307 at basic levels. Arduino – not deep into that myself.
