    Nice find Matthew. The app note publish is dated is 23 January 2013. There is a .pdf download on the page linked in the original post.

    However, there is really nothing in this application note that deals with Jitter vs. Phase Noise – which are equipollent (but not equivalent). – A deep subject. But one anyone dealing with timing and communications systems should understand the difference.

    Also, the document doesn’t really explain how jitter/phase-noise is affected by N times multiplication (worse) or division (better) – theoretically 20*log(N). A proper treatment of the multiply/divide factor should also include how non-ideal (and non-linear) devices doing the multiplication or division can add to the noise themselves. Again – a deep subject.

    But he NI note is worth a download IMO… Thanks
