I have used the Xilinx CPLD’s for many years. The Coolrunner II is one of my favorites. The kit is worth the $39 if for no other reason than to get the USB to JTAG interface that uses a Atmel USB interface.
I have one of these. The USB is not general purpose and I don’t think the code on
the atmel at90usb is available. You run a separate utility (not in ISE) to load the
bitstreams and I don’t think it will JTAG through the USB. It has a stardard JTAG
header. They may have changed this in ISE 12+.
That is too bad. I figured that they did something like that since the online manual doesnt even have a schematic.
