MPLAB X is the next version of the Microchip development software for PIC microcontrollers, and the first with Linux and Mac support. Check out our MPLAB X wiki for tips, and add some notes of your own.

One problem people might have is that you have to uninstall the previous version to be able to install the new one. For the compilers, you can directly update but finding the uninstall file and running it gave me headaches. (I wa doing this at 4am)
