Seeed is working up a new Bus Pirate probe cable. It’s going to have female ends like the SparkFun cable.
For the last year we’ve been using 1:1 female cables to connect the Bus Pirate to stuff. We think the connections are more secure than the cheap test clips on the old cable. The new cable has the same type of female ends. They make better connections to pins, and they’re not nearly as expensive as upgrading to high-quality test clips. The E-Z Hooks that come with the Saleae Logic, are more expensive than a Bus Pirate.
We chose the current cable and clips because they’re cheap. It’s good enough to get you going on a budget, but not very durable or secure.
It may be possible to use the cable with a set of hooks, like the E-Z Hooks. We’ll check it out when we get a sample.

According the dimensions in the technical drawing of the E-Z Hooks I assume the new female ends should fit.
When the cheap clips wear out one can always replace them with the female ends :-)
How about EZ hooks with a male pin to fit into the above female ends.

the logic analyzer I have to use at work uses cables with two female 0.1″ crimp contacts and E-Z Hooks.
I tried to recreate those female test cables, but with no luck. The female crimp contacts I bought at Newark/Farnell were not as good as the logic analyzer ones. I tried different models from other local distributors, but they were not so reliable and robust.
Can you point me to your source?

I have a couple of those and they appear to be firm, in contrast to the one seed uses in the old buspirate cable. Dunno about the quality adafruit have but I guess a bit better.
Note though these can not be used with the female ends without some additional effort i.e. somehow adding a pin directly or adding a piece of wire with a male end.
I noticed these look exactly like two of the hooks on my Seeed BusPirate cable.
itead is selling probes that needs to be soldered to a wire, but the gripping mechanism is the same as adafruit is selling.
The quality of the itead ones is a bit better then the ones seed uses. I guess the adafruit are even more better quality (at least the price suggest this)
Price is, well, flexible. I’d bet the farm on the test hooks being otherwise identical. Significantly cheaper on eBay last time I bought some too compared with Adafruit (12 for much less than half their price for 9!). eBay price per 100/120 is < 35c ea.

those clips whilst cheap are also fairly low quality, you can see that from the way the Rivet has split, indicating the manufacture has very poor process control, or is hand riveting rather than spin riveting(machine)
Perfect! The current hooks are quite bad. I have to use some adapters (that are also far from perfect) in order to use my Ez-Hooks. Looking forward for these.
I use molex 16-02-0103 for the female ends, soldered to the wire.
Does anyone knows the reference of the female socket “rounded” used in this cable?
