
The Microchip Microstick for dsPIC33F and PIC24H is a DIP socketed development environment for the dsPIC33FJ64MC802 and PIC24HJ64GP502 16-bit digital signal controller and microcontroller. The board is USB powered with an integrated programmer/debugger, an onboard debug LED, utility LED and reset switch. Pin header spacing is 0.025″. List price is $24.99 from Microchip Direct.

0.025″ spacing? I know that’s what it says on microchip’s website, but that can’t be right. Breadboards are 0.1″, which matches the pin pitch in the actual datasheet for the pic24hj64gp502 in SPDIP.
Or are they trying to say that the leads are super thin, and let you plug another wire into the same breadboard hole? (As seems to be implied by rustic engineering) Weird selling point… Either way, it can’t be the spacing…
It has standard breadboard pin spacing. The header pins supplied are slightly thinner than normal, not too sure shoving extra wires into the same hole was an intentional effect though.
Bought it in an attempt to move up from the arduino – but I’m yet to get the peripheral pin select to work in bringing out the UART nicely (and coding in C seems much more painful than arduino’s semi C++).
