Which firmware BP v3

Postby wally » Sat Feb 09, 2013 1:52 am

Hello,

i did not use my BusPirate for a long time.
Which updates are recommended for this Version ?
I need to measure a 5V digital signal. Do i need a Voltage divider or can
i connect to a 5v source directly ?
Is the "sump.org LogicAnalyzer" still the GUI-Interface of choice ?

... If "Bus Pirate v3" is the same as Bus Pirate v3a" i think there is some info in docs.

It is the same, the differences are mostly package size type stuff. The latest firmware is 6.3 beta somewhere on this forum. There is also an older stable release one which is 6.2, you can find it in the SVN: http://code.google.com/p/dangerous-prot ... loads/list

You can measure 5 V signal directly, there is a voltage divider, you should be fine for voltages up to ~6 V.

As it uses the SUMP protocol, any GUI which supports it is good. I use Jawi's client: http://dangerousprototypes.com/docs/Ope ... r_Software

Hello ,

i followed the instruction from :
http://dangerousprototypes.com/2010/01/18/how-to-bus-pirate-bootloader-v4-upgrade/

looked mostly nice, but on the end i got a long listing of verify errors:

16150 lines of this style:
Code: Select all
Verify Error at 0x4 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0x6 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0x8 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0xA should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0xC should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0xE should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0x10 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0x12 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52
Verify Error at 0x14 should be: 0x187A but read: 0x52

any idea what i'm doing wrong ?

Do i need a programmer-hardware to upload a new bootloader ?

thanks
