I know my opinion likely doesn't count for anything, being about the newest one here, but I think splitting the box into the groups mentioned earlier, and shuffling the list for each box would be a good idea, that way anyone who wants to get both boxes can, but not at the same time. That would make the process feel faster for anyone closer to the bottom of the list, who have been waiting already. And anyone who is uninterested in the types of items in one group can just remove their name, that way people who want that box get it sooner, and the ones who only want one of the boxes doesn't have to pay 2 flat rate shipping boxes when they only needed the one.

This is greatly appreciated you reconsidering this. I've PM'd the remaining people on the list that you noted. All were still 'active' in the member list.

Might I suggest starting two seperate threads in the event the box split wins the vote. One could be the 'Big Box of Parts USA' (the current thread) and the other, the 'Big Box of Components USA', each with it's own signup list. If the split occurs, touch would continue the parts box down the current list, but would send the component box to #1 on the component list. If the box split doesn't occur, the component thread would be abandoned.

It should also be clear in both threads what is appropriate for each of these boxes so they doen't become two of the same thing, overstuffed with a little of everything.

And above all, Thanks for getting this box started! It's an awesome opportunity for a lot of people that may not have easy access to some of the things that find their way into the box. My closest hands-on source is radio shack or frys... pfff. Both lacking most everything I'm ever looking for, and no near place to share my spares.

I don't really have a preference on whether the box is split or not.

That being said, if there are items taking up a lot of room that are cheap/easy to come by or unlikely to be desired then maybe they should be taken out before splitting the box. Determining which items fall into that category could be tough however.

I'd prefer not to split the box up just yet. There are some components I have I'd like to chip in and perhaps others I'd like to use from the box currently, as well as other larger pieces.

Perhaps what we can do is "close" the list to the 23 people on it for now hence allowing for the box to make it around as-is all the way up to user 'touch', and then 'touch' sends it back to the front of the list. At that time two lists can be started: one for components and one for larger parts.

Also, I have some kits I'd like to include (pcb with associated components). Which box would that go in? I guess the "components" box?

I think that we should split the box in two and make a box of components or anything that can be soldered to a PCB and blank PCB's. That will make lots more room in the big box. We should call it the "small box of components USA only
