Those hubs look suspiciously like the ones I bought to dismantle for inside a TL-WR703n - if they are, then I found that they have no visible xtal, and stop working after 6+ hours (which is bad when your root drive is on usb...) -)

Well these actually got a 12MHzc rystal mounted at the bottom of the single sided pcb. It's really incredible to see a 4 port hub with so few parts. I've got a some 4-port hubs that are a few years old and they have 4 or 5 ic's and more like 50 discretes in them.

Wow -- how were those packaged and shipped. I wonder if they stick the machines an mess everything up?

They're really really tiny, so 500 of them is about the same size as 1.5 sugar cubes. So they were just wrapped in some bubble wrapper and then put in a regular envelope. But at close range they are really strong. I put all of them in a line and hold on to the top one it can carry the weight of the remaining 499. One of them can easily hold a A4/Letter sized paper on the fridge.

Yea, I'm not surprised. I got these boards to use for parts for building my own board and it was cheaper to get these from ebay than purchasing the 125 MHz oscillator and the AD9850 at my local Element14/Farnell. :-)

Last week I got jumpers !!!

I had a small bag with few tens of them always handy when you play with computer parts ...
but misplaced it during xmas time ...
I went to my local pc parts place ... they sell them something like $1 for 10 jumpers !!! WTF !
So I ordered a BAG of them a 1000 jumpers ! for $8 , I will have jumpers for the rest of my life for sure ! :oP

I just picked this up at my local surplus shop. The gallon size bag contains mostly these values: 470uF, 220uF, 100uF, 47uF, 22uF and 10uF. I estimate the number of caps totals around 450-500, I'll take inventory later. I saw it and had to pick it up. It's funny because I was just pricing parts for one of my projects and I needed 470uF and 100uF smd caps so this works out perfectly for me and saves me the shipping time.

That binary explorer board looks pretty cool!

While getting a Garmin Nuvi 50LM GPS for a upcoming roadtrip I couldn't resist also picking up a 199 Ringgit (USD 63) Android Tablet just to see if something priced at a 1/10th of an iPad actually is usable at all.

It turned out that it is not a total piece of shit so my wife adopted before I had a real chance of actually testing it properly. :-) or :-( Don't know what smilie that is best here...

I recently bought this same "cheap" tablet. I thought I will use it on my wall as a huge light switch to manage all my light in the living room and kitchen.

After playing around a while I think that except the viewing angle of the display (which is total crap) the tablet is amazingly usable.

Even when I just switch lights on and off occasionally the battery lasted 10 days!! I was shocked to see this with a cheap Chinese pad.

I also use a Nexus 7 which is of course better, but I have to say the cheap one is nice, too. :)
