I just bought ten 630 tie point breadboards for about $3.50 each on eBay, free shipping. I will have the father of all breadboards, at least once they arrive. The mother of all breadboards has 26.

Opamp, dc-dc converter, audio amplifier, some 0603 capacitors.

All these bought from SM Electronics, who is Indian distributor for Mouser. Buying directly from mouser attracts $40 shipping, tension of customs, etc. Buying from them attracts little charge and it's good for small orders. My current order was near $10-12 only.

Picked up this at SEG market @ Shenzhen with the help from Eric at Seeedstudio.

5 meter of addressable RGB LEDs with PWM in waterproof flexi strip for 150 RMB = USD 24 total. Adafruit charges 150 USD for 5 meters of a similar strip (about 30 leds per meter). This strip got LPD6803S as the LED controller chips.

Three full reels each with 3000 pcs of 0805 leds, red, green and yellow... 513 RMB = 82 USD in total. Eric was not too happy about the price but I accepted it anyways...

It would be great if people included links to where they bought things. Several things I'd like to buy too... but am having trouble finding a source.

I finally received my encoder from Ebay :o)
and I send a message for the seller for the datasheet last week ....
until now no answer, so I think few people here already used them ...
I know it is 2 bits gray code plus a switch so it will be easy to find out, but still
having the specs will be nice ...

do you have the datasheet handy ?

I also remember to see an eagle part in the blog, was it done for those litte encoder ?
:-)
I also ordered a bunch of stuff from ebay, so I will get few Xmas packages in my mailbox :o)

Heathkid, you can just ask for a link if there is a specific item you previously saw that you want. I will post links for any other things I post here now as well.

Bam! :D
A very good microbiology textbook for only 12 bucks including shipping. Used, one edition old (basically a year old), and quite a bit of highlighting.
An iphone 5 for 200 which I will flip for around 700, netting me 500 bucks which will go towards a proper biology microscope, like one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004X3 ... d_i=507846
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UM ... d_i=507846
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TJ ... d_i=507846
or this guy if I find a similar one on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/amScope-40x-200 ... 7675.l2557

And the rest of the money will go towards paying off my parents mortgage. A pretty good "investment" considering it will give me a good yield, tax free, and 100% safe! Yes, paying off a mortgage early can be considered an investment.

And here comes the tiny thing in the bottom of the picture, my PCB's from OSH park. The guy or gal there is extremely helpful, helped me out by telling me which files I should generate from altium, and even canceled an order of mine by request after it was panelized! I will be doing all my PCB buys from OSH park from now on.

Beware the Amscope cameras - a year or so ago when I bought my Amscope stereo microscope I also researched their cameras and it appeared that they provided less than satisfactory results.

Took advantage of Rapid's 10GBP free shipping offer to order some cheap copper clad and the little aluminium fronted project boxes I like.

Hey, another biology nerd! Where did you pick up that Micro textbook? I'll be needing one myself fairly soon.
