Using the ADC is a good suggestion. Thank you!

The clock now has an additional state after turning the flashlight off, where it displays the battery voltage in volt.

I also added an additional displaying mode where it uses dice symbols for the digits. In the following picture the time is 14:27:36 and the alarm is active (on).

I would really like to build one of these, but I want to avoid perf board. Do you have any plans to design a pcb?

Hi,

I'm also impressed by this design. So I've been working on a board for this based on atmega8 and 3*5x7 dot matrix displays(5x21 dots). I have the design nearly complete. Working on other designs to complete the panelized board. I can share the design here if needed.
