Which SoB case for my Bus Pirate v3.5b?

Postby spooner » Tue Feb 04, 2014 10:34 pm

For the life of me I don't know why this is so hard for me.

There is an SoB case listed on Seeed for the BP v3.6 but not for the 3.5b.

Am I missing something? I have measured the PCB and tried to determine which case to order but I find it extremely confusing!

Can anyone tell me which case size to order? Perhaps a chart indicating which case to order for each hardware version of each Bus Pirate would be helpful to others as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Much thanks. -spooner

Hi spooner,

For the bus pirates v3
Were sorry but we did not make any cases for those bus pirates prior to v3.6 which are not in a SoB (sick of beige) cases. SoB designs were implemented starting on v3.6 and later.

For the bus pirates v4
on the other hand non-SoB cases were made for v4 and named "Bus Pirate v4 Acrylic case kit v1"

were sorry if we made this too confusing

BP v3.6 version change was made to fit it inside a SoB case. Previous versions don't fit in a case.

But you can use Seeed's laser cutter service to cut out your own custom case. Or you can find a case design in the forums. :)

Thanks for the great and speedy feedback!

I was recently given the BP 3.5b by a friend who was no longer using it, so the price was definitely right for now!

Now that I understand the 3.6 board is not the same size as the 3.5 board there is no confusion.

The only reason I held out hope is that the photo of the 3.6 case on seeedstudio's site seems to have 3.5e silk screened on the PCB in the case.

I feel a little dopey since the product is spelled out by version.

I appreciate the advice, and I will look into ordering a custom laser cut case.

Thanks again! ~spooner
