Thanks dsm,

We really came a long way with you help, thank you so much.

Here are two renderings of the almost-most recent board by Filip.

I looked at the BusPirate-v3.5e-SSOP.brd [r1658] board layout and have a couple comments.
I looked at the BusPirate-v4c.brd [r1658] board layout and have a couple comments.

  • No change in [1654] positive comments. Nice.
  • Updated IO connector pin usage annotation on back side of the board. Nice.

I should probably explain why I keep posting a xxx-board-geometry spreadsheet when the board layout revision changes.
Essentially I use the xxx-board-geometry spreadsheet to summarize and accurately communicate board geometry that might affect case geometry.

My current case design process is something like the following...
  • Generate a xxx-board-geometry spreadsheet that communicates board geometry that might affect case geometry.
Typically this is a short one-page spreadsheet for each board layout revision.
    ...
  • Enter dimensions generated by the xxx-board-geometry spreadsheet into a xxx-case-geometry spreadsheet.
The xxx-case-geometry spreadsheet summarizes my assumptions about the case design and may be fairly long.
Multiple xxx-board-geometry spreadsheet values may be entered into just one xxx-case-geometry spreadsheet.
The xxx-case-geometry spreadsheet generates case dimensions.
    ...
  • Use these case dimensions to design the case with a 3D design program [1].
Because this step now a fairly mechanical process, entering the case design is now simple, quick, and remarkably error free.
    ...
  • Use the 3D design program to generate an STL file for the case.
    ...
  • Order case samples using the STL file.
Thanks for your time.
