We got some feedback that F232RL can’t work in Windows operating system recently and we did a serial test on different PCs and different operating systems.

As a result, we found some chips can’t work with the latest drivers on the following Windows operating systems:
• Windows 8.1
• Windows 8.1 x64
• Windows 8
• Windows 8 x64
• Windows Server 2008 R2
• Windows 7
• Windows 7 x64
• Windows Server 2008
• Windows Server 2008 x64
• Windows Vista
• Windows Vista x64
• Windows Server 2003
• Windows Server 2003 x64
• Windows XP
• Windows XP x64

We are analyzing the issue and need some time to get the root cause. However, if you see the exact same behavior, you can follow the attached instruction to fix it quickly.

If you are not satisfied with this solution, kindly let me know and I will send you a replacement.
Apologize again for the inconvenience caused again.

I was thinking on ordering a Bus Pirate v3.6 from seeed and then I read the posts about the defective ones...
Being someone that knows seeed's reputation I decided to take a chance anyway. I placed my order on the 25th of December and yesterday (4th of January) my package arrived to France, finally :)

The bus pirate is marked as Apr 2012 so I started to became worried.
I followed the wiki and tested it on my Windows 8.1 x64 machine with the latest driver from FTDI and everything worked perfectly fine.
The only bad part of the hole experience was related to the "Bus Pirate v3.6 acrylic case v1 (DP6037)", it was missing one of the nuts so I couldn't assemble it.
I've also ordered the Bus Pirate Cable and the probe kit. I think the quality on the probe kit is ok but I was expecting something more robust, two of the probes came disassembled and if I try to assemble them they just fall apart.

Overall I would give Seeed 4 out of 5 and I'll probably order more in the future.

I'm just leaving this comment because I know some people may not order the Bus Pirate because of the "problem" but there is none, at least for me everything went fine.
