Help in reverse engineering a Car Parking System

Postby luciocorrea » Mon Feb 20, 2012 3:38 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to reverse engineer a Car Parking System sensor.

It communicates with the display using RF, and I already identified the receiver module. Attached is a photo of the receiver.

Can anyone help me how to use Bus Pirate to sniff the signal?

Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help with your question, just thought though that if you are looking at other functions of the sensor, then this could be invaluable http://ph-elec.com/archives/hacking-gm-ultrasonic-park-assist-sensors/.

It was also published as an Instructable http://www.instructables.com/id/Hacking-Automotive-Ultrasonic-Sensors/, but you should not "hold that against it" :) as it is an interesting article from an original designer!

This is the job of a OBLS or Open Bench Logic Sniffer. With the logic sniffer you just connect two lines to the two signals and ground to ground then you can see the data and/or run protocol tests.

I would try UART on one of the signal lines at ~4800 or perhaps use the BP v4 AutoBAUD detection to find out if its uart. I know with alot of little rf;s like that; there is +,-,Digtal (UART),analog (iuno).

well wait, one should be antenna right?

but those are hobbiest rf's. i dont know about this one.. my best advice is a OBLS.

I agree with Brent, the OLS is the way to go.

Thank you guys.

I think the solution will indeed be a Logic Sniffer.

What if... it's not serial high and low but, I draw a blank on the protocol uhm LIN(?), where the data is current based.
