Free Cortex M4 Seminars - free food, free discovery board

Postby bearmos » Thu Sep 20, 2012 10:26 am

Just got notice of some free seminars for the STM32F3 MCU's hosted by Nu Horizons - these are what's on the popular "discovery" boards. These seminars are free and have free food, a free discovery board, and more sales pitches than you can shake a stick at. . .

In the past, some people found these useful, so I figured I'd pass this one along too.

No love for New York! :(

How many people go to these things? Is it like a little room with 15 chairs, with desktops and dev kits set up for each individual, or is it like 100 or more people all sitting in folding chairs watching a presentation?

I went to one hosted by Nu Horizons outside of Philli, mainly because my rep was trying to get some people at the last minute. There were 3 customers there (including me) and probably around 6 sales guys. We each got a dev kit and went through some tutorials on provided laptops - they also gave away a $3k SDK. They brought in some great food and had some really knowledgeable app engineers there (both from the company that was doing the presentation and Nu Horizons).

If you're really into face-to-face type of interactions, these can be nice. Usually they have someone with a decent technical background doing this type of presentation that's knowledgeable about the product line, so they've got a decent shot at fielding real questions.

I have been to both types. uC presentations will attract 200 people from all over (movie industry, engineering, automotive, internet and tech, and others at the last but TI thing). Niche ones are like bearmos says, a couple people only.
