IR Toy won't enumerate

Quote
I recently bought the logic analyzer, bus pirate & the IRtoy projects. I have managed to get the analyzer and pirate projects running, I have had quite a lot of trouble with the IRtoy, mainly the .inf file. I did manage to find one and a brief check showed it has the correct hardware ID in it it still doesn't work. There is no .inf file in the download mentioned on the wiki page.

Sorry about the missing .inf in the latest firmware download, thanks for pointing it out. I added a new link on the IR Toy 101 page to a separate download in case I forget about it again:

When you plug in the IR Toy does the LED light, and does it still show the new hardware prompt in windows?

Another thing I can think of is maybe the incorrect driver was assigned. Does windows show anything in the control panel when you plug in the IR Toy?

Are you able to connect to the HID bootloader (no driver needed) by connecting the PGC and PGD pins and then plugging it in? The LED should light here too.

You are supposed to unplug the IR Toy, short the pins, plug in again, flash, unplug, remove jumper, and finally plug in.

But you can just short the pins and flash (actually holes, IR Toy doesn't come with a pin header). I've done this several times without problems.

I can understand why people hesitate to bridge (read: shortcircuit) something they just bought :). here is a picture on how to do this (instructions: see above)

Thanks for the pic. If you release it under a CC-BY-SA license I'll add it to the wiki.

i did not even know about a CC-BY-SA license till you mentioned it :)
hei man, it's yours, and use it like your own property. I got a few more: if you would like to have the originals, i can mail them to you (rar is about 15 MB); or i can upload small sizes here...

Thanks! We just gotta make sures before we release your stuff to the world :)

Would you please email me the original of this one to crop down to show the jumper position? That would be fantastic! ian@ this site dot com ;)

Found the problem, it was in the CDC section not the IRtoy. It took me quite some time to track down the .inf file so when something didn't work I fixated on what had recently caused the most trouble.

Thanks for the update, and the pics. I added the jumper pic here:

It's really great, now I want similar pictures for all the projects :)
