LED Mute or ON/OFF

What's the difference between LED mute on/off (0x10/0x11) and LED on/off (0x12/0x13)?

From the sample mode manual:

LED mute on/off (0x10/0x11)

Enables/disables the LED in IR sample mode. LED settings are cleared on exit and do not apply outside IR sample mode.
LED on/off (0x12/0x13)

Turn the IR Toy LED on/off. Respects the LED mute setting. LED settings are cleared on exit and do not apply outside IR sample mode.

Just in case it wasn't clear, I updated the mute description with: "The LED will not blink during receive or transmit."

If both settings "do not apply outside IR sample mode", what's the difference, LED Mute does what you'd think LED On/Off will do, stop blinking during receive/transmit. Sorry, but the description is so short for both settings that I don't understand the intended purpose.

You'd expect LED On/Off to work in other modes, and LED Mute to work in sampling mode, but if that's not the case then is harder to see how they differ from one another. "LED will not blink during receive or transmit" and "Respects the LED mute setting" don't provide enough info on what they do.

In mute, the LED does not blink on RX/TX. ON/OFF actually turns the LED on or off.

Ok, so what would be an example where the LED will blink with LED Mute setting ON (which would make it different from LED Off)?

If sampling mode was the default then I see the IR Toy blinking for other reasons (besides RX/TX).

I added more details and a truth table to the wiki.

LED Mute enabled (on) - the LED will not blink on any activity, even the LED on command.

LED on - the LED turns on, unless mute is on.
