I will make some better pictures when it's completely finished. The buttons are really great, they are "clicky" like the original buttons, with which I mean they have only 0,5mm travel or so. This was very important to me for the feel. They are also very short, which was helpful to keep enough room for the controller board which is mounted on special brackets within the housing. The enclosure is 18cm deep, which is just long enough to fit everything in. The controller board is mounted 35mm behind the front, as high as possible to allow room for the power button, USB bracket (still to be installed) and plug for the iron. Using all teflon cabling helps as well because they tend to be more flexible, making the installation a bit easier. It was much cheaper to get custom made transformer locally rather than getting it from TME or so, but manufacturer said that 105mm is the minimum diameter that they can produce for the 120VA transformer. Getting the correct hue of yellow in a photo is difficult, I experience the same. I did not actually pioneer the big display, I more like popularized it by finding the aliexpress version ;)Funny, tidying up and putting in the usb are the last steps for me as well.
