Hey
Great UniS, I'm impressed! Unbelievable that you have built such a great machine! Please, the links to the buttons are very neat. How does UniS look like inside?

Thanks a lot Tony, I could not have done it without your great build and awesome photos! The inside is still a bit untidy. I will make some better pictures when it's completely finished.

The buttons are really great, they are "clicky" like the original buttons, with which I mean they have only 0,5mm travel or so. This was very important to me for the feel. They are also very short, which was helpful to keep enough room for the controller board which is mounted on special brackets within the housing. Here's the link: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/FXdJtxTbz

The power button is also super nice quality, I searched for hours looking for a button which I could mount completely flush with the front panel: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/073N5v6if

Wow! Looks very professional, excellent job! Wonder how you squeezed all the stuff in such a small enclosure.

I found a 120va toroid that is 92mm in diameter, which made this possible. The enclosure is 18cm deep, which is just long enough to fit everything in. The controller board is mounted 35mm behind the front, as high as possible to allow room for the power button, USB bracket (still to be installed) and plug for the iron. Using all teflon cabling helps as well because they tend to be more flexible, making the installation a bit easier. To be honest I expected the install to be more difficult, it all fits snugly but comfortably.

I used regular cabling and the connectors lead-outs barely fits into 170mm of enclosure length.

But I think your transformer is a lot bigger, and you mounted it very cleverly so you still have plenty of space left. Looks super tidy and neat, nice job! How wide is you housing? It looks to be 140mm or so?

It's 120x120mm and it's pretty much dictated by the transformer. It was much cheaper to get custom made transformer locally rather than getting it from TME or so, but manufacturer said that 105mm is the minimum diameter that they can produce for the 120VA transformer.

Yes, probably it should be so, since you pioneered with this display  for Unisolder))) Actually, camera does not reflect how pleasant it looks (I mean yellow OLED display) on black satin front surface.

Have to install USB somewhere, tidy up inside, get feets, etc..

Yes I agree, yellow on black is a great combination! Getting the correct hue of yellow in a photo is difficult, I experience the same.

I did not actually pioneer the big display, I more like popularized it by finding the aliexpress version ;)

Funny, tidying up and putting in the usb are the last steps for me as well. Good luck, and remember to please make some pictures from the inside as well once you finish!

Tranformer must smller than 95mm*55mm or you can edit the stl to fit your transformer

Is there an ebay link to one of those displays?
I don't use aliexpress.
There's always more to learn...and remember that everyone was new to everything at some point.
