Bus Pirate terminal not starting in HiZ mode

I'm using Linux Mint 16, which is based off of Ubuntu 10.04. When I start minicom pointed at the Bus Pirate's port, this is the screen that I get:

Code: [Select]
Welcome to minicom 2.6.2

OPTIONS: I18n
Compiled on Feb  8 2013, 07:03:03.
Port /dev/bus_pirate, 13:36:48

Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys

Is this a problem with the Bus Pirate or with minicom or perhaps something else?

BPv3.6 to clarify. Also, when I jump between PGD and PGC, the Mode LED lights up and whenever I press any key except for the fct keys, ctrl, and a couple others in the terminal emulator (minicom or picocom) it prints BL4+ or BL4+BB. My endgoal is to update the firmware on my buspirate to v6.1 or simply to get the terminal emulator working properly.

the BL4+ message comes from the bootloader, so there is a bootloader (which is good)

What baudrate did you select? It should be 115200, n, 8, 1. If you set this you could try to flash a firmware and see if that would solve your problem (prolly does ;))
