Replaying sequences without pc connection

Hi together,

I just found the infrared toy and am currently wondering if this is the tool which will be able to solve my little problem. This is what I need to do:

- Record infrared sequences from a regular remote control
- Assemble a sequence where a predefined chain of signals is transmitted over a total duration of about 5 min
- Store this sequence
- Activate and send this sequence without computer connection by toggling a switch

Background: I want to use this control sequence on an RGB led stripe which is aboard a model airplane for nightflying displays. The sequence should be synchronizised to music and should be activated by a single switch.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sascha

The hardware can do it, but nothing like that is supported by the current software.

Over a year later and no solution?

My request is pretty simple. I can capture the single button I.R. press signal with it connected to a computer no problem, but I need it to re-transmit that signal once every hour while NOT connected to a PC (just 5v power).

Please please tell me we can build a solution to do this?? :(

just buy a Raspberry Pi and let it control the IrToy. And the RPI just needs 5V power and consumes almost nothing.

I have an rPi sitting doing nothing (replaced it with a Seagate GoFlex Home) so that is a possibility.

If I can make it work in standalone it might be something I would consider making a few hundred of. The hardware is capable of doing what I want, just not the software, so it's against my principles to use the rPi for something the IrToy should be able to do all by itself!
