What cabling to use ? December 26, 2012, 05:32:54 pm Being completely new to this, I'm not sure what to do for cabling. The JTAG headers on the boards seem to come in all sorts of shapes. The one I want to use has a 20 pin male header block, just like the bus blaster, but other boards have much fewer pins. Do you laboriously wire the boards together with individual female breadboard jumpers with the inherent high probability of miswiring, or what do you do ? Re: What cabling to use ? Reply #1 – December 26, 2012, 08:46:23 pm For one-offs or just "from time to time" connections I use single female-female jumpers. For those I'll use a lot, I crimp a connector with a suitable connector on one end and 20 pin connector on the other. Sometimes I use ribbon cables, sometimes those jumper cables. Reply #2 – December 26, 2012, 11:31:10 pm Here is a link to the female-female jumperwires: http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/1-pin- ... th=175_187You can glue them together if needed to make custom cabling. For the buspirate I made a special Y cable to get +3V3 or +5V to the Vpu. Last Edit: January 01, 1970, 01:00:00 am by Guest
Re: What cabling to use ? Reply #3 – December 27, 2012, 03:53:53 pm Thanks for the replies. I failed to notice the individual f-f cables somehow, but seeedstudios have f-f cables where the strands in a 20 wire ribbon cable are all separated. I got a few of those. I guess (hope) the busblaster docs will explain how it is supposed to be wired up. Last Edit: January 01, 1970, 01:00:00 am by Guest
Re: What cabling to use ? Reply #4 – December 27, 2012, 08:31:05 pm JTAG signal names are pretty standard. The names of the signals are on the bottom side of the PCB too. Last Edit: January 01, 1970, 01:00:00 am by Guest
