Hi everyone,

Seeed is now listing Bus Pirate v3, with RED PCBs:
http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/preorder-bus-pirate-v3-assembled-p-522.html

I've just published the accompanying article:
http://dangerousprototypes.com/2009/10/04/prototype-bus-pirate-v3/

I'm sorry for the long delay. We had to wait for Hack a Day's second preorder to ship (early September), and then I did a second revision of BPv3 to get it just right.

I hope you enjoy the project!

Thanks Ian, ordered!!

Thank you for the article too, it gives a great insight in to your process. You mention that you send your board design to a board house for your test PCB's, is that Seeed Studio, or do you only use Seeed for your production run? Just curious!

Cheers, Dave.

I'm using Seeed for all my boards lately, but I've use BatchPCB, Olimex, and some others in the recent past.

Seeed makes it really easy, and I like it that there's extra PCBs in the Seeed shop for anyone that wants to build their own.

Didn't we sign up to get an e-mail when the V3 was available?

The email notice will start going out on Monday or Tuesday, I want to wait to make contact with Seeed before then. It's still a long holiday weekend in China, I noticed the BPv3 listing on my 'Seeed new products RSS feed', but I haven't heard directly from them yet.

hook me up im in for the end of October for sure, and once i set up pay pal or
get the use of a cc i will pre pay and commit to anything.

this seems like i very good product!

my only question is whether or not i can program chips,
and if so would i be able to program an home made
mp3 player with this??? (assuming i have the right
knowledge and expertise;)

cuz i have read threw some of your web pagers but
have found do direct statement saying that it was
possible with this.

@blob - Check the Google Code project page:
http://code.google.com/p/the-bus-pirate/

Not it

    * PIC/AVR programmers: there's so much variation in algorithms it would be hard to fit a wide range of devices into the Bus Pirate's firmware. We once read that developing and maintaining a PIC programmer without official support frustrated Olimex to such an extent that they refuse to do it for the AVR. You're more than welcome to grab the source and add these features, but we're probably not going to work on them.
    * Please, port the source to your favorite micro. We'll even merge the changes and host them in our SVN. We're busy working on the PIC version for now, though, so we probably won't design hardware around other chips.

If I can get 10-15 people to commit, I'll put v3 into production with Seeed.

Hahaha, Seeed already closed the first preorder for the V3
"Preorder 1 sold out, please check Preorder 2 which has longer waiting time"

Looks like a winner!!
(maby we will get the v3 a little sooner now as the first preorder would have closed on 15 October originally)
