Free PCB Build: Bus Pirate v3.5 SOIC

Hi there!

I'm got my free PCB today and I'm currently sourcing all of the parts required to assemble the Bus Pirate. These are the parts I've already sourced so far:
1x FT232RL (SSOP28) - Sourced from a Sparkfun XBee Explorer PCB with ripped tracks (a laptop fell on it)
1x PIC24FJ64GA002 - SOIC28
1x CONN_USB_MINI-B
1x 5V 150mAh LDO V-Reg - SOT-23-5
4x 1KOhm 0603 resistors
1x HEADER2X5-SHRD-PTH
1x HEADER_PRG_PIC_ICSP
2x 10uF Tantalem - SMC_A (Rated to 6.3v)
3x 1uF Ceramic - 0603
6x 0.1uF Ceramic - 0603

Parts still to get:
1x 4066 - TSSOP14
1x 700mA+ ferrite bead - 0805
8x 1.7v LEDs - 0805
2x 2KOhm 0603 resistors
2x 3.3V 150mAh LDO V-Reg - SOT-23-5
3x 10KOhm Resistor Networks - 0603 spacing

I was looking at using Mouser to get the last components but was a little shocked that shipping would be a minimum of $35 for less than $3 worth of components, so I'm now looking at using Element14 to get the components as I apparently can get free freight within Australia providing I order online and spend a minimum of $10. So I'm looking at alternative components for the Analogue switch (U3) and I'm looking at <Will place link when I can, part number from Texas Instruments CD74HC4066PW> as a direct replacement, but I'm not sure if this will cause a problem for the bus pirate.

I'll continue to update this thread as I progress though this build, but I hope it have it working within the next 4 weeks or so.

Thanks for reading

The HC substitution should be fine.

Hi,
I've also made a BP 3.5 SOIC version with free PCB code. And I tell you don't need exact parts.
1. 4066: Use any 4066 IC from any manufacturer.
2. 700ma ferrite bead: I've used a 1.0 Ohm 1206 resistor.
3. 1.7V LEDs: Get a wasted mobileset from any mobile shop. You'll find enough LED's below the keypad. I got one mobile board with 6 blue LEDs. Actually you need 4LEDs, other 4s are parallel.
4. 2KOhm 0603 resistors: I've used 2.2K ones. No problem.
5. 3.3V LDO @ SOT23-5: Use any LDO at same package. You can sample http://www.ti.com/product/reg102-33 from TI.
6. 10K resistor network: I used 8.2K ones (822 mark) from a dead ASUS motherboard.

EDIT: Can you upload a picture of partial completed board?

That is key. That is one reason I don't like to give exact part numbers. There are tons of interchangable parts, and giving exact part numbers increases confusion for beginners: what values are important, how close does it have to be, etc. We try to give the important stuff (4066, 1uF/12V, 100R 0805) so you can use what is best for you.
