I'm not really sure of the best source for a PICKIT2, I buy from Microchip direct because of the hefty education discount.

I'm really sorry I can't come up with a crafty way to revive it.
No sorry's needed!  I really appreciate the support and time you've taken.

I will add a note to the upgrade instructions that this is a possible side effect of loading the v4 firmware with the p24qp utility. It wouldn't have happened with the windows program, so it never occurred to me, I see exactly what the p24qp script did that could have caused this (erasing the whole chip at once, not leaving config words intact).
Maybe someone else can learn from my mistake..... ;^)

Thanks!  That was a fun project.  The controls were the funnest.

If you don't mind sending it to the EU, it can probably get back to you within 2 weeks of your mailing it.

I appreciate the offer.  I'm probably going to buy a PICkit2 from either Newark or Mouser.  They're both $34.95US.  Hopefully I'll have a use for it later.  I'll post a reply here, or PM you when I have my PICkit2.  I'd be perfectly happy to offer "reflash" services to any in the US that need it.

Thanks again for all the help.

I received my genuine Microchip PICkit 2, ordered from Newark ($35), part number PGC164120.

I've revived my BP3!  WOOT!.

I'd like to offer free flashing services for anyone in the US, that might get into the same situation, or needs a PICkit 2 supported PIC flashed.  Feel free to PM me.

Ian - If you think I should post elsewhere, or you'd like to move this post, please feel free.  And again - THANKS FOR THE GREAT SUPPORT!
