Bus Pirate v4 to developers by Christmas

Bus Pirate v4 test batch should be done any day now. The production prototype is working.

I only ordered an initial batch of 20, many are already taken by case designers, developers, etc who are getting free advance hardware. There is no promise the hardware is without bugs, and it might not be the production design (I won't hesitate to change the final pinout if the mood strikes me).

The test batch comes programmed with firmware v6.0.

It WILL NOT come with a bootloader, you must have a PIC programmer to upgrade it.

I would really prefer that these go to contributing designers, developers, and testers only. The initial price will be pretty high to discourage lookie loos, but if you make some good contributions DP will pay for your 'pirate.

As soon as there is a workable bootloader we can produce 100.

If you want one dispite the bolding above, you can reserve one in this post. The rest will go on sale in a free-for-all at Seeed.

I'll dig through my PMs for the list of people who already have one reserved. (Ril3y, ahri, Tayken?,...) Sjaak already has one soldered by moi, and IP and McZ have PCBs.

I've given away all the PCBs I had, but another batch is on the way. I'd be happy to send you a board when I get them.

Yep, I sent a PM for reserving one. After my year -end presentation I can design and hopefully laser cut a case. (Still waiting for the machine to be repaired though :( )

@sqkybeaver - no reason to hold out, it could be a very long time until this is ready for general use.

Just got word that these are being tested now. Maybe they'll be ready tomorrow.

We didn't quite make it, but the prototypes are available today. I'm going to fill freebie requests first, then expand to paying developers, then put anything left in the Seeed store. I'll post a PIC if I get one.
