Title: bus pirate with ch340

I've never used a bus pirate before so I have zero experience with the board but I was thinking to create my own.
Since pcb prototyping is so affordable these days I want to design my own pcb based on bus pirate schematic.
I have many ch340 ICs laying around and I was thinking to replace the ft232 usb to serial IC with the CH340.
Would that work without editing the bootloader/firmware?

That should work as FT232 is just a USB to UART converter.
