Title: Eagle, Vgroove, Vscore etc
Post by: jowi on December 02, 2016, 03:01:36 pm
I'm placing 25 small designs (about 7x7mm) on a 50x50mm double sided board. In between the designs i keep 2.54mm space for cutting/sawing. I would like the factory to place v-grooves, but i'm not sure how to construct those in Eagle.

At the moment, i've placed 2.54mm (100mils) wide lines on layer 102 (Vscore) to separate the designs. Is that enough?

But if you open 'advanced options' you can check the v-groove option for $5 extra... ?

Hm, you could try and see what you get.

V-groove/V-cut/V-score
May be available in the advanced options of the PCB order form for an additional charge. May not. Minimum length is 8cm, this is due to the v-goove machine's cutting bed length. V-groove is specified on the outline layer.

I haven't tried it yet, but I know people in other groups have use mouse bites instead of v-cut.  I think I read the same in another thread in this forum.

In stead of vscores i've use mouse-bites. At least i hope so, i'm not sure i did it the right way... one thing i noticed afterwards is that the holes have soldermask... that was not the intention... i've placed the order and it is processed and shipped, so something is coming this way :)

Image is the 5x5cm testboard with 36 miniboards, divided by drillholes :)
Funny thing, dirtypcb added a comment in the shipping notification: "happy hacking" :)

Got the boards yesterday, perfect! Used 0.6mm boardthickness. I thought i placed solder on the holes but they're just plain holes. Just slide the row of holes with a knife a few times and they break of easily :) Very pleased with the result!
