There's a cool project on Github with little swarm robots that I want to replicate (find on Github at 'ShapeLab/SwarmUI') and in the repository there are gerber files.
As a new user I'm not allowed to post links to images so here's the file listing file by file:
- drills.sm
- layer_1.GBX
- layer_2.GBX
- layer_3.GBX
- layer_4.GBX
- mask_1.GBX
- mask_4.GBX
- outline.GBX
- rout.sm
- silk_1.GBX
- silk_4.GBX
However, when I zip the directory and enter it into the input field, I get the following error:
Error: Unable to determine type.
I was told to zip the files when I contacted Dirtypcb's support. What am I doing wrong?

You need to rename the files with the following extensions (quoted from that webpage)
Upload one or more PCBs on the order page. Gerber files should be inside a .zip archive with standard file extensions:
Gerber file extension Layer
GTO Top Silkscreen (text)
GTS Top Soldermask (the 'green' stuff)
GTL Top Copper (conducting layer)
GBL Bottom Copper
GBS Bottom Soldermask
GBO Bottom Silkscreen
GML/GKO/GBR* Board Outline*
TXT Routing and Drill (the holes and slots)
