Are boards from DirtyPCBs and the http://dangerousprototypes.com/store/pcbs (http://dangerousprototypes.com/store/pcbs) site ROHS compliant? Also, was there a lead free HASL option or is it always lead free? I tried searching the site and forum and couldn't find an answer.
HASL is not lead free and we do not have a lead free option. ENIG is lead free.
I have been under the assumption that the offered HASL was lead-free, because of the specification "No PB) hot air levelling". But I guess that would be capability of the factory to do it, and not part of the deal with DirtyPCBs?
The "About" page:
http://http://dirtypcbs.com/about.php
Clearly states (well, it seems very clear) lead free. It says:
Surface treating (No PB) hot air levelling
I'm thinking PB isn't referring to Peanut Butter.
We've bought a few batches of boards with a HASL finish believing they were lead free. If that's not the case, you really really (really) need to correct that "about" page.
I taLked to factory and the team to get clarification. The about page has a translation of the capabilities of the 2L factory (HASL, PB free HASL, ENIG) from their website. It is intended as a list of options available and not what is on every board (eg (PB free) HASL and enig are not combined). When PB free HASL is available it will be listed in the order page specifically as "PB free HASL" and it will cost a bit more.
I am really sorry for the confusion. I agree it is not clear and appreciate you brining it to my attention as I prepped the specs years ago and never had reason to revisit them. I will change it now and will also add options for PB free to the new site.
To best of my knowledge all 4L and over boards are on free by default.
