ive been hacking away at this for two days now i can compile the demos just fine i got the board drivers installed
upload the hex with ds30 and i get a success message but when i run tera term i just get garbage back none of the characters match what im typing the red light by the
ftdi chip blinks so the data is getting there
when i tried the sd demo it never contacts the dhcp for an address and the ld1 light blinks continuously
ok i go the terminal demo to work after changing the port speed from 9600 in termpro still cant get the sd demo to work once uploaded i reboot the board and nothing happens
i tried the precompiled hex and compiled one locally they act the same its probably something stupid
on a side note should the lights on the cat5 jack light up when i plug into the router ? they havent and i was wondering if there even hooked up( or is that a function of the stack?) they appear to be
> i tried the precompiled hex and compiled one locally they act the same
The precompiled one works for certain, so you must be not doing something expected :) Is your DHCP server online and enabled?

They're not connected by default. Instead, the connections are routed to two of the LEDs on the top right edge of the board next to where the heartbeat LED is flashing. If that LED is flashing then the firmware is running - so I suspect your DHCP server is not handing out IP addresses...
its a linksys router with ddwrt firmware not really a server persay but you can watch what its doing
in the past ive had problems configuring devices that start out dhcp if there starting from a different ip range ...
is there a way to use a crossover and manually configure the ip as a static ip ? ( if not seems like a good idea) or is there a default ip
i tried again on a second linksys router with ddwrt and 1 pc and it worked
Glad you got it going, thanks for the update.
i got it to work on my first linksys router ..how long should dhcp prorogation take normally ?
also are the mac addresses on each board unique ?
im attempting to use the microchip default page i loaded it to sd card with extra files (occasionally the led indicator works) but none of the main functions work.
im attempting to load it to eeprom but the /mpfsupload page gives me a more messed up version of the index if i try to boot without sd card inserted it acts like the board isnt even attached but the act lite blinks showing the network traffic hitting the board
what step / page did i miss/not read ?
does the web browser make a difference ? i tried IE seemed to fail the same it acts like it wants to work then fails then runs
so far im using these pages to muddle my way thru

all help greatly appreciated
Hi neorazz - It usually only takes a few seconds to get the IP address when the board starts. The MAC addresses are not unique.
I'm not sure what you missed, but if you start the board without a SD card, the firmware (currently) just hangs waiting to init a card. The ACT LED shows traffic to the ENC28J60 chip, and will blink no matter the state of the pic/webserver. In my experience, browser doesn't matter, but I haven't tested every combination.

I confirm that. I used personally SAFARI on my MacBoocPro laptop, I used FireFox and IE on Win7 desktop, and I used my HTC Desire webbrowser (on my Android PDA), and all gives the same results !!!
all should work. Mayb be he can change the MicroSD he is using.
tried different smaller (32mb) sd card same results still messing with the code
btw do these drivers support sdhc cards ? (4 gig +)
I've used a 4Gb micro-SD card - can't buy anything smaller these days, except at exhorbitant prices that is - and a 16Gb micro-SD card with no problems.
