I get a similar error in SUMP 0.8.1 Logic Analyzer when I set the recording size higher than 1K. SUMP is supposed to put the IR Toy in SUMP mode (by sending "0x01"). SUMP waits for data when you press "Capture", that's why you don't see any action until you press a button in your remote control.

IR Toy Commands

IRScope expects an IRWidget to be connected on a real serial port (not virtual COM port).

WinLIRC 0.8.6b works with the IR Toy with a plugin (see link below). In version 0.6.5, you could go to Reconfigure|Raw Codes to see some raw timing data, but you can still use Hercules to see WinLIRC's TCP messages. Remember WinLIRC sends info about buttons pressed in the remote control (127.0.0.1:8765), but you need a script/application to do something about it.

actually most of the winlirc plugins export raw timing pulse/space info. This is what the graphing program uses. It just uses the values directly to draw the graph. It resets itself when it hits a space longer than a certain value, ie assumes it's drawing a new signal.

You should start by trying to make a connection using Hercules before trying SUMP, to be sure things are working.

You can also try unchecking checkboxes "1, 2, 3" next to "Channel Groups" in SUMP?

Hi Josh - I think liyin's last suggestion is correct. The IR Toy only sends data for the first channel group, you have all four checked (see screen shot attached), so it stops 1/4 of the way through the expected capture length. Uncheck channel group 2, 3, and 4 and it should work.

Sorry, uncheck channel 1, 2, and 3. Leave channel 0 active.
