Hi,
I've grabbed some of this cheap solder paste off eBay. Initially I've had a bit of a problem with the PCBs getting toasted slightly in the QS5100 oven, with the silkscreens browning a little, though the solder results appear to be solid.
I saw Ian's post about reducing the top temp to 200 degrees. Will do that. What about the other temps - does anyone have a tried and proven profile they recommend for the Qinsi QS-5100 oven with Mechanics paste?
And finally a newbie question for sure - does it change if you use different coloured PCB's?
Thanks
Geoff
Despite this being a very popular paste to use, info on the profiles used for successfully reflowing with it aren't anywhere I've found (though possibly are on some of the chinese sites I can't read).
I've had a few boards through since the earlier post, giving DirtyPCB a workout across colours and a range of thickness too. I did try dropping the soldering temperature to 205C with keep at 200 but the results were unsatisfactory and I had to rework most of the board with an iron.
I've gone back up to 220C with 200C keep and the results have been better and no scorching even on red boards like the ones that did earlier. Those were both smaller in size and 0.6mm thick so the thermal mass of the PCB probably has something to do with that, and I answer my own question that colour probably has only minor impact.
